Student Success & Support

Picture

We are committed to providing students with the supports they need. Our school is highly organized to provide students the behavioral and academic support they need. We have a variety of teams and outside resources in place to help students meet their full academic potential, which are described below.

The Student Success Team includes our School Nurse, our Coordinator of Special Education,  our Special Education teacher, our ESL teacher, our school psychologist, our Family Coordinator, our MassStart liaison, and a clinician from South Shore Mental Health Services.
Comprised of two special educators, a speech and language therapist, occupational therapist, and school psychologist, the Student Success Team meets the needs of MJP scholars with identified learning differences. Our special education teacher provides academic intervention services for students without identified learning challenges, who benefit from academic remediation in a smaller setting. Our ESL teacher adapts and delivers educational services to students who are English Language Learners. Our Family Coordinator helps parents who have behavioral or academic concerns for students connect with necessary, effective services.

Community partners play an important role in meeting students' needs. South Shore Mental Health Services provides a clinician, Mr. Raoul Robert, who provides in-school counseling to over 12 students. Wediko Children's Services support twenty five students in Grades 2 through 5 through their MassStart program.  These supports, which include parent education, free students to succeed in academic pursuits by ensuring that their social and emotional needs are adequately addressed. The Paraclete Afterschool Program serves students in Grades 4 through 5 with a well-rounded after-school and summer program that offers academic intervention and enrichment. Boys and Girls' Groups empower students to aspire to high behavioral and academic standards.
